CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 18th OCTOBER 2007.
Hello, and thank you to all teams old and new who have registered with us this season.
Tuesday 23rd of October sees the start of what we hope will turn out to be a fantastic season of darts.
Over 225 people have registered to play so far and the numbers are still growing.
This year we have three divisions. Div 1, for the more serious players, and two more divisions for the more social darts players.
We will also be holding a league cup knockout competition plus our usual men’s, ladies and doubles knockout competitions which will reach its conclusion on finals night at the Ambassador restaurant on 13th May 2008
I am very pleased to announce that John Lowe's visit has now been secured and we have to thank Thomas Cook for their very generous sponsorship. You can all see him at the Ambassador on Saturday 23rd February 2008 where he will be playing our last seasons singles winners plus 8 other lucky winners of our on the night draw which you can enter by sending your name and registration number to our secretary before the 30th Nov 2007, providing you have purchased a ticket. Two more places will be auctioned off to the highest bidders of anyone who has purchased a ticket and the money will be added to the charity fund.
Please see your club captain for details of the draw and tickets ASAP he/she has been notified with the details.
We are hopeful the event will be televised.
We are also considering selecting our best 8 players and inviting the best 8 from the Cyprus Federation to play us nearer the end of the season subject to their acceptance to the challenge. Check website for updates.
The Cyprus Mail has agreed to publish our weekly results on a day to be confirmed, so thank you to them.
Thank you also to all the many newspapers and magazines that have highlighted our league.
A huge thank you to Vic Hemming and Terry McGovern who have worked tirelessly throughout the summer making it possible for us all to play darts again this season.
Any disputes or complaints must be sent to the committee via email or with the match report and they will be dealt with.
Finally I would like to say to you all have a good season and enjoy your darts.
